COMMUNICATIONS

Stay Connected!

  • Dassel-Cokato Schools places a high value on connecting with families, students, staff and the community.

There are several ways to stay connected and receive the news and information in ways that work best for you!

    • District Website - a continual source of information showcasing events, stories, and announcements regarding students, staff and the schools.
    • School Website pages - each school has its own website page for news, information, and stories designed to let you know what is happening in your student's school.
    • School Newsletters - each building produces a monthly/bi-monthly newsletter highlighting the details and happenings current to the time.
    • The Charger Check-In - a bi-monthly school district newsletter sharing news and stories for the whole community.
    • Infinite Campus (Parent Portal) - is how we communicate directly to families and staff using email, voicemail and text messaging.  This system communicates urgent information quickly as well as important messages and alerts.
  • Media Requests

The Dassel-Cokato School District strives to maintain positive and productive relationships with media partners. The District defines “media” as organizations that have a consistent publication date/time, an established audience of subscribers/viewers, and operate with sound journalistic and news/information gathering practices.

Thanks for your interest in Dassel-Cokato Schools. For all media requests and inquiries, please contact Abbey Lang, Director of Community Services, at (320) 286-4100 ext.1022 or Abigail.Lang@dc.k12.mn.us

    Presence on School District Property

Throughout the year there may be instances where representatives from the media want to be on school property. The District has various procedures/processes in place for visitors when they arrive at a school - with safety being the priority.

    • All visitors must check in at the school's front office and obtain permission to be on campus. This must be done prior to any video and audio recording.

    • Interviewing students on campus can only be done by having coordinated appropriate permissions with the Director of Community Services and under the supervision of school staff.

      • Students must have a media release signed by their parent/guardian on file allowing media interaction while at school.

      • Media visits should be pre-arranged to help expedite the process and minimize disruptions to the school day.  Obtaining permission prior to any interaction with students allows school staff to verify that such a release is on file, allowing student(s) to participate.

        • At times, “b-roll” footage of common spaces such as hallways, lockers, etc. can be arranged if the photographer agrees that no one student can be identified in order to protect those students without media releases.

    • When on school property, media are asked to wear/display identification at all times.

    • In times of emergencies or crisis situations, media and other visitors are not allowed on campus.

Let us know what's going on around the District by emailing communications[at]dc.k12.mn.us with an idea for a story or a current/upcoming event.

We encourage photo submissions and work to utilize them, depending on space and the quality of the photos. We do not give bylines unless the photos are submitted by a student photographer.
